 PROJECT HELP MEXICO... PHM
PHM began at SARDIS SECONDARY SCHOOL in Chilliwack British Columbia in 1998 and has had 12 great years of building in Mexico.
To date Sardis Secondary has provided 15 families with beautiful 2 bedroom and loft homes like the one in the picture and one School Classroom.
Can any one build??? YES..if you can hold a hammer you can build with our great construction team. Day 2 your team will frame, sheet, pull the wiring and begin to drywall...Day 3 & 4 will be finishing days as we paint, roof, side and then Dedicate the House & hand over the keys.
The HOUSE DEDICATION is the coolest moment of the trip. Families are blessed by the teams with many house warming gifts and often alot of used furnishing purchased at the local market....good idea!
The cost is $5590 USD for the House - paid 4 weeks in advance
The cost of the 1 bedroom home is $3562 USD
Cost for your stay in Mexico $50 per day per person paid 4 weeks in advance
Funds are payable to PROJECT HELP.
Air to San Diego approx $450 - Alaska Air group desk to book
Van Rentals - Avis or Budget from San Diego - Approx $650 per week with Mex Vehicle Insurance.
You need to bring,
A tool belt and hammer, a plastic cup bowl spoon, water bottle
Your Team Needs,
A cooler, 4 knives, 30 Zip Lock Bags, a large peanut butter, a large jam, 1 box of cereal per 3 people,
A skill saw, drill & bits, 100 ft ext chord, small level, chalk line, square, small level, 6 of each - drywall knives, drywall spatulas, 4 paint brushes, 4 rollers & trays, 10 sheets of finishing sand paper. $75 for interior paint.
MEALS - we create a breakfast buffet - assign a person to be in charge
Lunch we dice and slice veggies and fruit for the cooler - chips - cookies - fresh buns - tuna - ham - assign 2 people to be in charge. Supper ...a variety of delicious local food!
Water - you are responsible - cost is $3 per 5 gallons -assign a person to be in charge
Calling Home - there is a 7 Eleven Style store next to the Hotel and you can call home for 40 cents per minute.
Medical Insurance and passports a MUST.. plus affidavits from parents for all age 18 and under.
FUN BAGS for local children....pack approx #50 - 100 Zip or Cloth bags of fun filled item to give out to local children.
A Children's Program... a parachute...a few balls...duck duck goose...a few fun songs...a craft for every afternoon...the local children will LOVE IT!
